Discussion Thread: New Hampshire Primary Election

Voters will head to the polls Tuesday for the New Hampshire primary with contested races on both the Republican and Democrat ballot for Congress. The winner of both races will face off at the Nov. 6 general election.

One person will be elected to serve as a representative in Congress, currently held by Annie Kuster and Carol Shea-Porter, both Democrats. Kuster won re-election to the 2nd Congressional District in 2016 while Shea-Porter decided against running for another term.

Running on the Democratic side for Congress are Terence O'Rourke, Chris Pappas, Levi Sanders, Lincoln Soldati, Maura Sullivan, Naomi Andrews, Paul Cardinal, Mark MacKenzie, William Martin, Deaglan McEachern and Mindi Messmer.

Republicans running for Congress are Eddie Edwards, Andy Martin, Andy Sanborn, Michael Callis, Bruce Crochetiere and Jeffory Benaro.

One Libertarian, Dan Belforti, has also filed to run for Congress, though he is not contested in the primary.

Republican Gov. Chris Sununu is up for re-election. Molly Kelly and Steve Marchand are facing Sununu on the Democratic ballot.

There is one open seat to serve as a state senator. Tom Sherman is running on the Democratic ballot and Dan Innis is listed on the Republican ballot. There is also one open seat for executive councilor, which is being contested by Joe Pace, a Democrat, and Russell Prescott, a Republican.

Polling open and closing times vary with some polling locations opening as early as 6 a.m. and most closing by 8 p.m., please contact your town clerk for exact times. At the polls, you will be asked for an approved photo ID.

For any problems at the poll, contact the moderator at the polling location. If your problem is not addressed, the New Hampshire Attorney General has set up a voter hotline to report problems or ask questions. Voters may call 1-866-868-3703 (1-866-VOTER03) on Election Day.
