Background

Joe Biden is currently on a diplomatic trip to Poland that the White House says is to highlight the refugee crisis and other humanitarian consequences of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. On Thursday, he gave remarks in a press conference which can be read here and watched here. He then delivered a joint statement with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen which can be read here and watched here. Yesterday, he and US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin met with the US 82nd Airborne in Rzeszów. Source: CNN

Biden's speech Saturday was characterized in advance by National Security Advisor Sullivan as being about "the stakes of this moment, the urgency of the challenge that lies ahead, what the conflict in Ukraine means for the world." Source: The Associated Press
