One of my recent columns explores how the verdicts in the Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd cases managed to deliver a small measure of accountability when the defendants in both cases were found guilty of depriving Arbery and Floyd of their civil rights. Arbery's killers were also found guilty of committing hate crimes, a rare, but very important, outcome. Floyd's case also delivered an important milestone when police officers were held criminally responsible for a colleague's excessive force, another justice system rarity. Ask me anything!
