Voters in Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oklahoma and Utah head to the polls today for statewide nominating contests for the 2022 midterms. Polls are open in CO/OK from 7am to 7pm local time, in IL from 6am to 7pm, in NY from 7am to 9pm, and in Utah from 7am to 8pm. Runoffs are also being held for two Republican US House primaries in Mississippi, and for the Democratic primary for the US Senate in South Carolina.

In Colorado, Mesa County clerk Tina Peters is seeking the Republican nomination to be Secretary of State. She has been indicted on 10 counts of voting machine tampering. Another Big Lie proponent Greg Lopez is running for governor, and has promised to pardon her. Both, along with Lauren Boebert, are facing moderate Republican opponents.
In Illinois's 6th District, incumbent Democrat Sean Casten and Justice Dem Marie Newman are pitted against each other due to redistricting. Casten's teenage daughter recently passed away. Another Justice Dem, Kina Collins, is attempting a second primary of Rep. Danny Davis in the 7th district.
New York's US House primaries have been delayed to August 23 due to redistricting. Gov. Kathy Hochul is facing primary challenges from moderate U.S. Rep Thomas Suozzi as well as a left leaning public advocate Jumaane Williams. Meanwhile, AOC-endorsed activist Ana María Archila is challenging Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado.
Oklahoma is seeing a brawl between 13 candidates in the Republican primary to succeed Sen. Inhofe, who is retiring early.
