| Discussion Thread: House Jan 6 Public Hearings, Day 8 - 07/21/2022 at 8 pm ET Posted: 21 Jul 2022 01:20 PM PDT The final summertime House Jan. 6 public hearings begins tonight at 8pm ET. Today's focus is on the actions of former president Donald Trump himself, in particular, the 187 minutes from his Ellipse speech until the Twitter video of him telling the mob to go home. The Committee intends to set out its case that Trump "was the sole person that could have called off the mob but chose not to". Reps. Elaine Luria and Adam Kinzinger will lead today's questioning. Committee Chair Bennie Thompson has tested positive for COVID, and is expected to participate remotely. Today's Witnesses: - Matthew Pottinger, former Deputy National Security Advisor
- Sarah Matthews, former Deputy White House Press Secretary
Both witnesses resigned immediately after the insurrection. Live Streams: This is the last scheduled hearing, however at least one more hearing is expected some time in the fall. A final report will also be issued in September.
