I founded Sally's List in 2010, with the goal of changing the face of politics in Oklahoma, and am currently serving as the Executive Director. In the last ten years, and with Alyssa in charge of programming since 2017, Sally's List has worked with over 100 diverse candidates and has seen 26 wins in the state legislature, on city councils, school boards, and county commissions, and in the judiciary. In 2018, the Oklahoma State Legislature went from 11% to 22% female representation overnight, mostly due to the efforts of Sally's List. Our combination of group training and intensive one-on-one work allows us to cater our approach to each individual race. We are as invested in our candidates' physical and emotional health as we are in their campaigns. Our goal is to help our women achieve victory without sacrificing their well-being in the process.

Discussion Thread: Colorado, Oklahoma, Utah Primaries

Posted: 30 Jun 2020 04:32 PM PDT

Introduction

Today, voters in Colorado, Oklahoma and Utah head to the polls to vote in state and federal (non-presidential) primaries. Absentee ballots in New York's primary are also being released, which will decide a number of primaries from last week.

A couple primaries tonight are expected to be somewhat competitive. In Colorado, the Democratic primary for the US Senate election features former Governor and presidential candidate John Hickenlooper and former state House Speaker Andrew Romanoff. The race may have tightened a bit in recent weeks after the state ethics commission found that Governor Hickenlooper had violated state ethics laws while serving as Governor. In Utah's Republican gubernatorial primary, former Governor and presidential candidate Jon Huntsman is seeking the gubernatorial nomination in a tight contest with Lieutenant Governor Spencer Cox in a race that polls show as a virtual dead heat. In Oklahoma, there is a mildly competitive GOP primary in Oklahoma's 5th Congressional District to take on incumbent Democratic Representative Kendra Horn, with a runoff in August if no candidate secures a majority of the vote tonight, but the major vote is State Question 802, which is a proposition on the ballot asking whether the state should accept the Medicaid expansion under Obamacare.
