Hello Reddit!

I am Morgan Harper, running for Congress for the third district of Ohio, covering much of the great city of Columbus. I do not accept any corporate PAC money, money from employees of Pay Day lenders or firearm manufacturers. I am un-bought and un-bossed.

I was born at The Ohio State University Hospital and spent the first nine months of my life in a foster home before being adopted and raised on the east side of Columbus by a Columbus Public Schools teacher. My mother, an immigrant from Trinidad, supported me and my brother while facing constant financial stress throughout our childhood. However, I count myself as one of the lucky ones. Despite my mother's hard work, and my own, I know that I would not be where I am today without significant support from the Columbus community and programs such as the Ron Brown Scholar Program, which enabled me to attend and earn a BA from Tufts, an MA from Princeton, and a JD from Stanford.

I cut my teeth at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) protecting consumers against predatory lenders and more recently at the Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC), which invests in systematically under-resourced communities.

I am running to represent the working people of Columbus, because 36 years ago, Central Ohio gave me—a newborn with an uncertain future—a chance to succeed.
