At PolitiFact we're gearing up for (heck we're in the middle of) a marathon election season. We've been fact-checking Democratic debates this week, as well as President Donald Trump's rally last night.

Recent headlines hearken back to a time, not so long ago, when we learned of election meddling plus an entire misinformation campaign that went along with it. PolitiFact decided it was time to get out in front of the fake, and cover misinformation as an area of reporting. That's where Daniel Funke comes in! He's PolitiFact's new staff writer covering online misinformation. Recently he's looked into why, fifty years after Apollo 11, moon landing hoaxes still thrive online. He has also found the origins of the "Storm Area 51" trend. Daniel is here to answer your questions on online misinformation, and the ins and outs of fact-checking politics.
