Discussion Thread: US House votes on the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework (BIF) and Build Back Better Act (BBB)

Speaker Pelosi has announced that the House of Representatives will be voting to pass the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework (BIF), which passed the Senate by a wide bipartisan margin earlier this year. Progressive Democrats had previously defeated attempts to pass the BIF unless the Build Back Better Act (BBB), a bill that Democrats intend to pass under Senate Reconciliation Rules, passed the Senate first.

Separately, the House will consider a rules package for the BBB, which contains the Biden administration's human infrastructure social spending agenda. The bill is likely to go to the Senate pending final scoring by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office to determine whether the bill would add to the deficit or not, a demand that moderate Democrats have made in order to secure their votes on the bill.
