Hi there, /r/politics! Since there was both a megathread and an AMA yesterday, the local news thread had to be postponed to one day later. The next thread will again be posted on Monday, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

In addition, today we're also hosting an AMA with John Carlson, chairman of the Democratic Party in Cass County, Minnesota. If there's something you'd like to ask him about local politics, feel free to comment in the thread here!

This is a weekly thread posted every Monday, in order to facilitate more discussion on local issues on /r/politics. Since this is intended to be a thread about local politics, top-level comments that are exclusively about national issues will not be allowed. Michael Corey and Andy Becker here. We work at at Reveal, a weekly radio show and podcast from The Center for Investigative Reporting. Becker, a reporter, focuses on issues related to the U.S.-Mexico border, including problems at U.S. Customs and Border Protection, legal issues surrounding cross-border shootings, and the logistics of President Donald Trump's proposed wall. Michael Corey, a senior news applications developer, was part of a team that created the most comprehensive map of existing border walls (and fences, and other barriers) available to the U.S. public. This map has been cited and used repeatedly, including by The New York Times.
