I'm a State Senator representing Central Brooklyn and longtime advocate of housing justice, criminal justice reform, and education. I'm the Chair of the Elections Committee, where we have overseen historic voting reform, and I co-led the criminal justice and housing working groups that produced the most significant reforms to our housing and criminal justice systems in a generation last year. I was in the news a bunch lately because on Friday, May 29, I joined a peaceful protest against police brutality and was brutalized by the police with pepper spray and put in handcuffs, and then just 11 days later, we passed a comprehensive package of police accountability legislation in the New York State legislature. I'm also a fan of Reddit AMAs. Ask me anything!
