Berman says he has not resigned Posted: 19 Jun 2020 08:41 PM PDT Attorney General Bill Barr announced Friday night that U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York Geoffrey Berman was stepping down. Berman oversaw one of the highest profile districts in the country and many politically charged prosecutors, including those over President Trump's former attorney Michael Cohen and investigations into hush money payments during the 2016 election. Several hours later, Berman released a statement, saying "I learned in a press release from the Attorney General tonight that I was 'stepping down' as United States Attorney. I have not resigned, and have no intention of resigning, my position."
